I wish that the dems would explain what mark to market is to the rest of the dems and republicans as most people are to stupid to understand that that is what is destroying the economy. If you voted for the dems and are losing everything that you own I am very happy for you as next time you may try and study whats going on instead of thinking that you can get everything for nothing.

Let those without insurance go without. If they are to lazy to work and voted for the democrats for president and the house and senate they deserve what they get. As the democrats ruined the economy with mark to market then I hope all of the states that voted for the dems lose everything they own. Dems are sorry and deserve what is happening to them now.

If the cause is so important to you, support (or start) a private organization whose mission it is to provide health care for those who cannot afford it.
My responsibility to my fellow man is a moral one, and whether we have a moral responsibility to support those causes which benefit others (social security, welfare, universal health care) is moot, because it is not the responsibility of government, nor should it have the authority, to enforce morality. Once you give the government the the authority to support (through taxes) "good"  causes you give it the ability to define what "good"  is. whether it be feeding the poor, or protecting traditional marriage.

Whatever the cause, I, as an individual, do not have the authority to force you to donate your money to support it. By what authority does the government (through taxes) force you to donate your money to support it? The government derives its authority from the individuals who are governed. If I (one of the governed) have no authority to force you to give, I cannot give government that authority (I don't have it to give).  Whether the cause is foreign aid, welfare, universal health care, or bailing out $multi-billion corporations, only those individuals who want to support a particular cause should do so.

Think about all the government programs that are out there. Think about one you strongly agree with. If there were a charity that did the same thing, would you support it? (probably) Now, think about one you strongly disagree with. If there were a charity that did the same thing, would you support it? (probably not) The government is now forcing you to support that cause (leaving less money to support those causes you agree with) by using your tax money to pay for it. Many of the causes that are being funded now would probably wither away, if only those who agreed with them supported them. If that happend, maybe it wasn't such a good cause?

You talk about government-run health care like it's a bad thing. It works for Canada and many countries in Europe. Why wouldn't it work for you guys. Frankly, yes. Look at the increase in the price of health care since medicare (government run) came into being.  If you could charge the government an artificially high price for a service (as long as you charged everyone else the same) you would.  The quality drops, ( there is no pressure to give good care, just more care) because the one paying isn't the one recieving the service. If we got government out of health care entirely, that would force the industry to compete for customers (better care, lower prices).

If you want to contribute to a private charity that helps the poor pay their medical bills, that is up to you. And you should make sure that charity uses your money efficiently to get good care for people who need it. they will then become a shrewd medical customer, because it's their money.

A government run health care system isn't using its money, it is using your money, so it doesn't really care about the service, or price. It can always get more money next tax time.

If I cannot pay my medical bills, do I have the authority to force you to help pay them? (no) If government derives its authority from the governed, and I (one of the governed) don't have the authority, I cannot give government that authority.

Here's a great way to drive a government towards failiure:

First, cut taxes for the top 1% of the tax paying population.  Then engage in two seperate wars (one of which was entirely unnecessary) that run the country $12B a month to fund.  Then, because of lax oversite and republican 'priniciples' be forced to create a bail out package that will likely top $1trillion dollars.  All the while borrowing money from China to keep interest rates and the dollar low.

What happens next is that because of the financial crisis China stops buying US dollars and starts spending on domestic issues (like their recent $500B plus stimulus package).  All the while the US treasury has to print more money and sell more bonds to pay for the tax cuts and the bailout package and the wars.  But if China is not buying US bonds any longer (and they won't), then the US gov has to sell these bonds at a higher interest rate in order to find buyers.  These higher interest rates on the 'safest investments' force companies and other debt issuers to sell their debt at even higher interest rates in order to attract the money that is now going to the government bonds because they are paying a higher interest rate.

Eventually, because of the high interest rates, private investment is crowded out.  Companies can not borrow from the markets because the interest is too high.  These companies can not buy the new equipment needed to stay competitive, and they go out of business.  That happens on a wide scale, and that is the reason the US is headed for the ****ter.  Because of idiots like you who only understand what you see on Fox News and who are too stupid and greedy to understand anything beyond your tiny trailor park.

hmm  i am sorry to inform my fello republicans that people could not see threw the lies and noncence that our now future pres has lane befor us. What people (liberals) do not under stand is, that if you rase the tax on the people whom make $250,000 a year (witch by the way most, if not all own buisness) it will run buisness ether bankrupt or to other countrys, witch in turn will bring up our unimployment rate. So think, if people are not making money, they cant pay taxes, if they cant pay taxes, our government will fall. A varry well thought out plan on Oboma's part. Dont you think???

TaxesJohn McCain believes we must keep taxes low to reward hard work and create jobs for all Americans. Barack Obama wants to "spread the wealth around" and is more interested in controlling who gets your piece of the pie than he is in growing the pie.
Economic PlanJohn McCain has a comprehensive economic plan that will create millions of good American jobs, ensure our nation's energy security, get the government's budget and spending practices in order, and bring relief to American consumersThe Obama tax increase would come at the worst possible time for America, and especially for small businesses like the one Joe the Plumber dreams of owning. The small businesses Senator Obama would tax provide 16 million jobs in America. And a sudden tax hike for those businesses will kill jobs at a time when we need to be creating more jobs.
EnergyJohn McCain will break from the past to lead a great national campaign to put us on a course for energy independence. No problem is more urgent today than our dependence on foreign oil.Barack Obama voted for the same policies that created the problem. He voted for the energy bill promoted by President Bush and Vice President Cheney, which gave even more breaks to the oil industry.
Health CareJohn McCain will make health care more available, affordable and responsive to patients and he will give families more choices over their care. Barack Obama's plan will harm employer coverage, continues the push toward government-run health care and will damage private coverage.
Reforming WashingtonJohn McCain has a record of working to end Washington's stagnant, unproductive partisanship. He will end wasteful government spending and put the government back on the side of the American people. The American people have not seen Barack Obama forsake partisanship for progress. In his short time in the Senate, Congressional Quarterly shows he voted with the Democrat Party 97 percent of the time.
Government SpendingJohn McCain is committed to and has long fought for restoring fiscal discipline by eliminating wasteful government spending. Out of control spending has resulted in a weaker dollar, raising the cost of groceries and gas and killing jobs. John McCain will rein in federal spending to help our families in tough economic times. Barack Obama plans to increase spending by nearly a trillion dollars. Already in three short years in the Senate, he has requested nearly a billion dollars in pork projects for his state and has been an eager participant in this corrupt system.
EducationJohn McCain will shake up failed school bureaucracies with competition, empower parents with choice, remove barriers to qualified instructors, attract and reward good teachers.Barack Obama wants our schools to answer to unions and entrenched bureaucracies.
IraqJohn McCain had the judgment to understand that America's strategy in Iraq was failing and the courage to call for a dramatic change. That strategy is now working, and America is succeeding in IraqBarack Obama opposed the new strategy and predicted wrongly that it would fail. He voted to deny critical funds to our men and women fighting in Iraq.
