Thanks Lynn. The only problem, as I was just discussing with my uncle, is how to start something to decrease the deficit. I can't believe that I candidate can announce that he/she would raise taxes and still win the presidency. But the first step has to be stopping the tax cuts.

I agree that tax cuts need to stop. I think spending caps have got to be mandatory, since you can't get away from spending. Leftover campaign money ought to be applied to deficit reduction. New taxes on companies who outsource to foreign countries should be levied, to penalize them for not hiring American workers. And tax lenders who've given people with bad credit home loans! Make banks reduce credit card interest rates and take their lumps for issuing loans to people with bad credit. Banks need to experience the losses they created. NO BAILOUTS!
But then, that would mean a miracle would have to happen and Bush & Co. would have to do something fiscally responsible for a change...bleh

Why do you talk of these great tax cuts. Are you aware that one day those tax cuts will kill America. At the moment that I am writing this sentence, we owe $9,294,447,542,266.86 in the national deficit. Why the hell are we getting tax cuts when we should be raising taxes to decrease the deficit. The longer we wait to do so, the longer it will take to get out of our debt as it continuously rises. Here's a frightening site I found about the deficit: http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/

Alex-how very astute you are! The world needs more young people like yourself. Bush hands out tax cuts as a panacea to us, like doctors hand out lollipops. They don't fix anything. Besides that, he doesn't care what happens in the country, as long as the price of oil remains high. He's all about war profiteering, nothing else.cry

What an incredibly astute young person you are-our country needs more young people like yourself. Bush uses tax cuts as a panacaea

We all said that at the start of his presidency. Oh, what can he do in four short years. He did so much to ruin this once great nation. So much has happened and so liitle has been done. I still remember going to school the day the world trade center was hit. I was in grade school, some kids knew what had happened and some did not. I left earlier than others and therefore did not know. I have a photographic memory of walking into music class and seeing the normally peppy teacher bawling. The teachers could not tell us what happened, but we all knew it was terrible. I remember thinking about what we would do in return. Several days later I discovered we were going to war, but not with the country that bombed us. What a travesty. We only entered the war to divert attention from the fact that we have know idea what is going on with Osama Bin Laden. Whomever takes his place, whether it's Obama, Hilary, or even McCain, we will have better days.

Well, you so-called Repubs voted for a president whose tax cuts only benefited 1% of our wealthiest citizens-people like Dubya and Dead-Eye D**k. Our military hasn't been reinforce by Dubya in the 7+ years he's deployed them, inducing some of great troops to commit suicide. This is how you support our great country, our military? Tell me true, GarryOwen, just how, exactly, did trickle down economics help you???confused

That GarryOwen has really set me on fire. How dare ANY Republican support Pres. Bush and his policies and try to tell the rest of us he is keeping us safe by working our military to their last ounce of strength? I found a link not too long ago that lists exactly how patriotic our Republican politicians are when it comes to serving in the military. Their heroes can be counted on the fingers of one hand...furious

Whenever I see a Bush's ratings, I'm always in shock that there are still people around the country who think he's doing a good job, even if it is only 1 in 4.  I always wondered under what rocks these people are living, and just who can be that stupid, stubborn and ignorant to still think he's done a good job.  Now I know one of them - Gary Owen (who by the way sounds like a nice crisp white boy with a trust fund somewhere).

Be sure to thank your dad (or grandad) for earning your money for you Gary!

Go tax breaks!!!!

I'm a registered Independent and can think for myself. I served our great country under Reagan, in several military actions. What, pray tell, is your payback to this great country of ours, GarryOwen? Finger-pointing at Democrats who try to protect our international and domestic integrity, our great Constitution, everything good we USED to be recognized for, until REPUBLICANS AND DUBYA came to Washington. How can you possibly justify taking away  Constitutional rights to every American citizen? Maybe you can answer this question, then, Mr. GarryOwens-what was the material breach of UN Resolution 1441 in March 2003?

All the responses are great. One thing equally scary-he wants a presidential library. I vote that it be turned into dart-board.idea

How about attacking Iran and then declaring a 'state of emergency' because of the invasion that allows him to hold on to power indefinitely? That sounds about right considering the track record of the past 7 years.

Worst President EVER!

What's left, what's left...hmm, turn the country Nazi? Become a dictator and stay in the presidency for, well, ever? Become a Hitler and kill off all the democrats? I'd hate to know what he has on his mind, good thing he is *leaving*.

I am eagerly awaiting the day Dubya finally leaves office for good. Which is why I've asked the question, what more can he do the country? My take on this is:
Iraq is a total quagmire which has cost us billions and gave us a trillion dollar deficit;
his total ignorance of economics allowed Alan Greenspan to practice unfettered, unregulated laissez-faire economics and tanked our healthy economy Clinton gave us in just 4 years;
he sabotaged our Constitution and long-standing international treaties with over 750 Presidential signing statements, because he's "The Decider";
he has permanently damaged our national integrity inside our NATO alliances, our SEATO alliances, and relations with those few Middle Eastern countries who were still willing to speak with us, over a non-existent Iranian threat.
I mean c'mon! he managed to piss off even Israel and Saudi Arabia!

What else is left?
hmm
